Urban Revitalization Plan

In an effort to encourage new construction, the City of Epworth has enacted an Urban Revitalization Plan. The Fox Ridge Development is not eligible under this plan.

 

Qualified real estate assessed as residential property on which new housing is constructed will be eligible to receive a 100% exemption from property taxation on the first seventy-five thousand dollars of actual value added by the improvement.  The exemption is for a period of one year.  This program is referred to as the Residential Tax Abatement Program.   A Commercial Tax Abatement program of 3 years is offered on 100% of commercial improvements with eligibility approval by the City Architectural Review Committee.

 

Time frame: tax abatement will be available indefinitely.  

Application Requirements:  Applications are available at City Hall and must be filed with the City for each exemption claimed.  The property owner must apply to the City for an exemption by February 1st of the assessment year the exemption is first claimed, but not later than the year all improvements are first assessed for taxation.
